Most people hate mornings and the same goes for me. I don’t really have a specific routine I have to do to have a good day. On days I’m having plans I don’t follow the below routine. But on days I don’t have to go out of the door early this is what I mostly do before I leave, if I actually have plans to leave the house.
I’m a real night owl so I go to bed pretty late. I become more alive in the evening/night but I try not to make it too crazy by going to bed in the middle of the night and waking up in the afternoon. Therefore, I set the alarm at 10 o’clock. Most of the times I stay in bed for another half an hour, just because I can you know. I better enjoy my free time now because I know that this time will be over someday. On weekends I don’t set an alarm.
After I wake up I mostly take a shower first so I can start the day fresh. When I come out of the shower I moisture my skin with the Kiehl’s Daily Reviving concentrate and after with the Simple Vital Vitamin Day Cream (SPF15). I love the products of Kiehl’s but I’m looking for some more affordable alternatives. A while ago I found the Simple products at our local drugstore and I decided to try them. I’m using the day and night cream by Simple for over a week now and so far so good ! The journey of finding the right products for my skin is still going on. I still haven’t found the right products to get my skin in real good condition. To keep my lips soft I apply some Vaseline. I just wash my skin with water in the shower, by the way.
After getting dressed and moisturizing my skin I make myself some coffee. I just can’t wake up without a coffee. If I don’t get a coffee I feel tired the entire day. So, I mostly make a latte macchiato. While drinking my coffee I watch a vlog on YouTube or TV series. After I’ve finished my coffee I make a glass of hot water with lemon juice. I’ve read that drinking hot water in the morning will help the body replenish fluids. With adding some lemon juice I’ll get an extra boost of Vitamin C and it will help to burn fat. It is also a trick for me to drink some more during the day. I have the bad habit to not drink enough. If I drink a glass of water in the morning I at least have drank one glass of water. There was a time only drank a cup of coffee during the entire day. I know it’s bad but I’m trying to improve this. I know that we actually should drink 2 liters of water a day. Well, I’m a bit tinier than the average person so I’ve lowered that standard myself to 1 liter.
When I’ve finished my coffee and hot water I’m going to brush my teeth. I do this afterwards because everything tastes bad after brushing your teeth, you know? And then I’m ready to apply make-up if I’m going to leave the house. If not, I’m not putting on any make-up. And that’s my morning routine on days I don’t have to rush out of the door.
I know that you’re thinking; ‘But don’t you breakfast?’. The answer is: no, I don’t breakfast. Why? Because I’m just not hungry the second I wake up. I know that we’re raised with the idea that we have to breakfast the minute we wake up. A while ago I talked to somebody about this and that person told me that it’s not that important to eat immediately when you wake up. I’ve done some research and found out that it’s indeed not a must to breakfast the second you wake up. Especially, when you’re not hungry. Don’t worry, I don’t starve myself. Once a week I have to take my medicine on an empty stomach whereby I’m not even allowed to eat for an hour. I know my body better than the most people know theirs. I listen to my body and I’m just really not feeling like eating right away. I eat when I feel like it which is mostly 3 hours later.
